Advanced Retinal Investigation

The Advanced New Method of Examining Your Eye Health

We are committed to providing our patients with the highest standard of eye care available. Our job is not only to ensure that your vision is at its best, but also to check the health of your eye - and consequently your overall well being.

Digital Retinal Imaging

We have were the very first practice in Enfield to install a state-of-the-art Topcon Digital Retinal Camera in our test room. This allows us to take photographs of the back of your eye (the retina), and enable us to carry out a far more detailed examination than was previously possible.

The retinal examination is comfortable and the image is captured in just seconds using flash photography - nothing touches your eyes. Occasionally drops may be required to dilate (enlarge) your pupils.

We will then have a permanent and accurate record of the condition of your eyes stored on our computer, allowing us to compare images and look for any changes, year on year - which could prove to be invaluable in monitoring your eye health.

We’re sure that you can see the benefits of this important new service - a service that is available to everyone. We make a small additional charge for this worthwhile examination which is not normally available under the NHS funded standard sight test. Diabetic patients who are registered with GP practices in Enfield and Haringey are eligible for the test under the NHS and will not have to pay an extra fee.

Optomap Retinal Examination

We are the only practice in Enfield to invest in this amazing technology. The optomap® retinal image gives eye care professionals a much larger view (200 degrees) of the back of the eye – your retina – than conventional eye exam equipment, including Digital Retinal Photography.

The images can be taken without dilating your pupils –which can be slightly uncomfortable and inconvenient for many people, especially drivers.

The optomap® retinal image offers many advantages including:

  • An ultra-widefield view of the retina.
  • Comfortable and quick image capture.
  • Non-invasive.
  • Helps you understand your eye health.
  • Provides permanent records for future comparison.
  • The optomap® technology does not require pupil dilation, however the decision to dilate or not is a medical decision to be made by your health care professional.
  • Available for all age groups from toddlers to the elderly.
  • No need to remove contact lenses for the test.
  • Patients can resume all normal activities immediately, including driving!

The optomap® image is captured in less than a second and is displayed immediately after being taken, allowing the eye care professional to review it quickly and if necessary, refer you to a retinal specialist. Using the internet, the image can be sent anywhere in the world for a specialist to review. The optometrist will, of course, be able to explain in detail everything about the procedure and the findings to each client.

Each optomap® image is as individual as fingerprints or DNA and can provide eye care professionals with a unique view of your health very quickly and comfortably - Why not contact us now to book your Retinal Photography?
