Scanning genomes
A number of research projects have indicated specific genes in increasing a person’s risk of developing specific eye conditions.
Last year, King’s College London identified 24 genes associated with myopia.
Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) compare complete sets of patients’ genes, as a means to understand if people with conditions have genes in common. These studies require data, however, in the form of whole sequenced genomes.
